Final full day in Arles. A wonderful home in Southern France. A sunny day to watch divers recover an ancient Roman ship from the river and visit the arena, theater, and a few Van Gogh sites.

Train delays kept us home in Arles for a windy day of “Le Mistral”. Yet it was a great market day and chance to peruse all the local shops and fare. – Concerned for all our friends in the Chicago blizzard!
Sabbath Day 70 – 4th Sunday in Ordinary Time – Arles, France
A quiet Sunday in quiet Arles, France. River traffic outside our window, fish soup and mutton stew for lunch, joyous worship in the French Reformed Church of Arles with Pastor Cecile Badet-Plaa delivering a word on the Beatitudes.

Rainy day for reading, laundry, eating, photography, antiquity, and a visit to the hospital where Vincent Van Gogh recuperated.
Sabbatical Day 66 – 18th Day of Ordinary Time – Arles (Avignon), France
Visited palace of the Popes in Avignon, France. Magnificent views and stunning waste of wealth. Came home to twilight at the place where Van Gogh painted “Starry Night” – a view of our riverside home.
Sabbatical Day 65 – 17th Day of Ordinary Time – Arles, France
We spent day acquainting ourselves with ancient Arles, our home away from home (top right corner of apartment facing the river). A wonderful city with charm and quiet.
