Final day of sabbatical at rest at home with a grateful heart. What a wonderful gift of rejuvenation! Eager to resume the gift of ministry.
Dreams are getting hinged again and my spirit is gearing up for joy.
Sometimes what we are looking for is in our own back yard.
A slow day of rest and clearing old mail at home.
A day of jet-lag recovery at home – at last!
A beautiful morning in Rome and a VERY long journey home to Chicago through London. One plane for both from Rome to London. Separate flights from London on home. 20 hours in motion.
A visit to the Sistine Chapel and the Vatican museum to boot. Walk around the Roman Forum and the Colosseum. Our last full day in Europe.
Arrival in Rome and some time with the faithful on the sabbath day in St. Peter’s basilica. A pleasant stroll through Rome seeing familiar sights along with weekend romans enjoying the weather.
A restful rainy day and good conversation with Deacons Paul and Antoinette Krieg, administrators of Casa Cares.
Overcast weather for a day trip into Florence. Walking past famous and familiar sights plus a visit to the Accademia (no lines for same day visitors!) where we were practically alone viewing the David by Michelangelo (no photos allowed).
A day of travel through the wine country of Tuscany on our way to Sienna. Saw Sienna’s striking colors and contrasts on a day with clouds skittering through the air. Finished the day at San Gimignano as the skies covered over with grey and the towers stood mute.
A restful day at Waldensian retreat center, Casa Cares, and short day trip to Greve-in-Chianti. Greve was largely shuttered up! (A down season for tourists). The olive grove and the sunset were life-giving.
