Sabbatical Day 83 – 35th Day of Ordinary Time – Regello, Italy

A restful rainy day and good conversation with Deacons Paul and Antoinette Krieg, administrators of Casa Cares.

Sabbatical Day 81 – 33rd Day of Ordinary Time – (Sienna, San Gimignano) Regello, Italy

A day of travel through the wine country of Tuscany on our way to Sienna. Saw Sienna’s striking colors and contrasts on a day with clouds skittering through the air. Finished the day at San Gimignano as the skies covered over with grey and the towers stood mute.

Sabbatical Day 80 – 32nd Day of Ordinary Time – (Greve-in-Chianti) Regello, Italy

A restful day at Waldensian retreat center, Casa Cares, and short day trip to Greve-in-Chianti. Greve was largely shuttered up! (A down season for tourists). The olive grove and the sunset were life-giving.

Sabbatical Day 79 – 31st Day of Ordinary Time – (Bologna, Tuscan-Emilian Apennines) Regello, Italy

Morning in the food markets of Bologna. Travel in our rented Fiat 500 across the Apennine mountain range. Glorious vistas culminating in our arrival at Waldensian retreat center, Casa Cares in Tuscany.

Sabbatical Day 74 – 26th Day of Ordinary Time – (Merindol, Loumarin, Baux-de-Provence) Arles, France

Powerful day at Merindol, site where a village of Waldensians / Protestants, were sent through a faux door (looks like a window in the photo) to their death down a cliff. One of many villages that suffered for their conscience. Loumarin was also visited by Waldensians before the Reformation. Baux-de-Provence is .. well .. beaux.

Sabbatical Day 71 – 23rd Day of Ordinary Time – (Nice) Arles, France

Glorious day in Nice, France, of clouds bursting sun, walk on the promenade, Chagall museum and a ride along the Côte d’Azur by rail. – New Chagall and Coastline Photos!
